Jewish holidays can be marked in many different ways. They may often include gatherings, ceremony, food, community, reflection. When someone finds themselves in the hospital during what is usually a sacred time, it can be challenging.

The Bay Area Jewish Healing Center has created specially-adapted materials for people who are in hospitals during the Jewish High Holy Days, Chanukah, or Passover. Packages might include honey-scented salve to bring in the sweetness of the new year, or a beautiful wax candle to bring in the light of Channukah. A “Holiday in an Envelope” may be requested through a chaplain or social worker in hospitals (in our area).
